This past week has been particularly difficult.
The new chemotherapy did not go as planned. I had a significant reaction to one of the drugs in the protocol, which led the doctors to transfer me to intensive care for a few days for close monitoring.
This period has been very trying for me, but also for my loved ones.
Fortunately, once this reaction was under control, doctors were able to resume assessing the situation and observe the first effects of the new treatment.
And that's where the news.
For the first time in a long time, the fever that was almost constantly with me has disappeared. I'm also regaining some energy, even though fatigue remains very present and continues to be a part of my daily life.
For now, I am still hospitalized under observation. If my condition continues to improve, I will gradually be able to have some outings to enjoy home and my family a bit, and regain some of the routines I miss.
I am also very grateful to my loved ones, my friends, and everyone who continues to send me messages of support. They mean a lot during difficult times.
However, we are not yet at the end of this stage.
The reaction I showed to the treatment has led doctors to question the best strategy to adopt going forward. The new protocol appears to be producing encouraging effects, but it remains to be determined how to continue the treatment taking into account what happened last week.
Several options are currently being studied, and doctors are working to identify the one that will offer the best balance between effectiveness and safety.
We are thus, once again, in a period of observation and waiting.
This wait is easier to bear when the signs are encouraging, but it remains a wait nonetheless.

We crossed paths a few early mornings, you like me always among the first to arrive. It's nice to arrive first: you have time to gradually increase the engine revs. It's almost like giving yourself a little break before you really start.
In those few shared breaks, when the sun isn't high yet, words make more sense, don't you think? And we've only exchanged a few pleasantries, but your smile has always managed to put me in a good mood. Maybe that's why I find it hard to imagine you so tired and weak.
