I am taking up my pen once again today to give you some news about Piero.
These past few weeks have reminded us, once again, that his care journey is not a straight line and that the planned steps may evolve depending on his response to treatments.
To date, the transplant project we discussed previously is no longer the immediate step.
Previous treatments had allowed a significant regression of the disease, but new tests have shown that the level of response necessary to move forward with consolidation chemotherapy and then transplantation has not yet been reached.
A new, more intensive processing step is therefore now necessary before we can consider the next phase.
We are focusing all our attention and energy on this new step today.
We do not yet know how Piero will respond to this new treatment. It will take time, tests, and a lot of patience before we can draw reliable conclusions about its effectiveness and the next steps in his care journey.
After all the twists and turns of recent months, returning to this period of uncertainty is inevitably very difficult.
So, for now, we are staying the course.
Piero continues to be monitored and surrounded with great care by his medical teams. For our part, we are trying to preserve our energy for what matters today: his treatment, his rest, our family, and the steps ahead of us, one by one.
We know how many of you are thinking of him and waiting for news. In this new period, your positive thoughts, encouragement, and patience are particularly precious to us.
We will continue to provide updates here when we have sufficiently clear information to do so.
Meanwhile, we choose to keep hope alive and focus our energy on what is ahead of us today.
Thank you for being here.
