I have just finished the third chemotherapy cycle of the fourth treatment protocol for my cancer.
The last session went rather well. Aside from a great fatigue, I didn’t experience particularly troublesome side effects.
The next step is now the TEP scan scheduled for next week. We hope that its results will confirm the possibility of undertaking the bone marrow transplant project.
This project is indeed starting to take shape.
I have already met the teams at the Léon Bérard Institute in Lyon, and then those at the CHU de Grenoble. Ultimately, it is in Grenoble that my career in transplantation should continue.
This is a real relief in terms of logistics for my family and close associates, who will be able to stay nearby. However, the transplant will involve several weeks of hospitalization in a protected environment.
The procedures to identify a donor have also begun. The teams at the CHU of Grenoble are currently studying the possibility that my brother could be that donor.
In parallel, I am focusing my efforts on my mobility and independence. I am still hospitalized at the Institut Daniel Hollard and a rehabilitation center is currently being considered. The goal would be to allow me to undergo the transplant under the best possible physical conditions.
My morale remains generally good, even though this long journey still includes difficult moments. I miss home, as do the simple moments of everyday life with Safyatou and our children. I can’t wait to be able to get back to all of that, even though I know that there are still several stages ahead before I can achieve that.
For the moment, I continue to move forward, one step after another.
I would like to once again thank all those who have supported and accompanied me since the beginning of this story. Your messages, your attention and your presence mean a lot to me and help me continue this long and unexpected journey.
Thank you all.
Piero

Always with you, my friend! 💪🏻
We'll keep crossing our fingers this time for the TEP Scan and for compatibility! Good luck
Dear my friend,
Happy birthday!
I am happy to know that, despite how difficult and tiring your journey may be, it is continuing in a positive way. I hope that you can still spend this day with the people you love and who love you. Moreover, I hope that next year you can celebrate it in your home with Safyatou and your children, perhaps sipping a good glass of Champagne! And I look forward to seeing that photo…which you will surely post on social media, showing the most beautiful of your smiles.
This journey continues with hope and determination. Even though it is far away….rest assured that I will be by your side.
Big hug!
Stefania
So how was this PET? I hadn’t received any updates from the Blog since August. Anyway, Piero
