I'm making an exception and taking up my pen to share some news before Piero's treatment resumes tomorrow.<\/p>\n
The last few weeks have been particularly difficult.<\/p>\n
The first chemotherapy treatment yielded mixed results. Tests showed positive effects, but they also confirmed that the primary goal regarding the tumor had not been achieved.<\/p>\n
Fever, fatigue, and pain continued to be a significant part of Piero's daily life. They led to several hospitalizations, numerous further tests, and a period of uncertainty that was particularly trying for all of us.<\/p>\n
After several weeks of waiting, questioning, and re-evaluations, we finally have a clearer direction.<\/p>\n
A new chemotherapy will begin tomorrow.<\/p>\n
This new stage brings both hope and apprehension. We now know that the road will be longer than we initially imagined, but we are also regaining something that had been missing in recent weeks: a treatment plan and clear medical timelines.<\/p>\n
An initial assessment will take place at the end of June to measure the first effects of this new chemotherapy. However, it will be at the end of July, after another PET scan, that doctors will be able to truly judge its effectiveness and determine the next steps in her care.<\/p>\n
Until then, it will be difficult to draw reliable conclusions from good or bad days. Time will be needed for treatment, examinations, and doctors.<\/p>\n
For now, our objective remains simple: to move forward one step at a time.<\/p>\n
